GLASS GUIDE: Cordial Glasses

GLASS GUIDE: Cordial Glasses

Cordial glasses are a petite, stemmed glass and are some of the cutest & most unique vintage glasses you can find. In addition to just looking beautiful, they make a great addition to your glassware & barware collection - especially when you know why & when to use them.

Cordial glasses are generally used for serving small pours of liqueurs, usually after a meal with dessert, called "digestifs". The glass's small size is ideal for the typical 1-2 ounce pour of a digestif. Next time you're hosting a dinner party and you really want to impress you guests, after everyone is done with their food and cocktails, bring out the prettiest cordial glasses and serve a digestif with espresso or dessert.

Here are our favorite alcoholic & non-alcoholic digestifs to serve at your next dinner party:

ALCOHOLIC DIGESTIFS:

Cordial Glasses surrounded by types of digestifs - amara, grappa, drambuie, limoncello, fernet-branca

1. Drambuie

A Scotch whisky-based liqueur that features spices, herbs and honey. Drambuie’s sweetness goes with coffee, chocolate and cream.

2. Fernet-Branca

Amaro is a type of Italian bitter liqueur traditionally consumed as a digestif. Fernet-Branca is one of the older amaro recipes that features a herbaceous and bitter flavor.

3. Amaro Nonino

is a delicately spiced amaro with flavors of burnt caramel, apricot, orange, genetian, saffron, and quinine.

4. Limoncello

Limoncello is an Italian lemon liqueur mainly produced in Southern Italy, especially in the Amalfi Coast, and Sicily. It is the second-most popular liqueur in Italy and is traditionally served chilled as an after-dinner digestivo.

5. Grappa

A glass of grappa is an Italian after-dinner drink. Consisting of grape pomace—the stems, seeds, and skins winemakers discard—grappa packs a fiery punch and can help digest big meals.

NON-ALCOHOLIC DIGESTIFS:

1. Figlia Fiore: Non-alcoholic Aperitivo

Figlia Fiore bottles the lushness of Italian gardens and the energy of sidewalk dinners in New York City. They recommend Fiore poured over ice, adorned with an orange peel.

2. Ghia

Ghia is a non-alcoholic apéritif or digestif - vibrant, fresh and satisfyingly bitter, it tastes like summer on the rocks. Their signature flavor profile is both bright and bitter, with a brush of sweetness and a savory finish. Potent plants. Heady herbals. Blithe botanicals.

3. Phony Negroni

Non-alcoholic with nuanced juniper, citrus, and floral notes, the St. Agrestis Phony Negroni drinks with the same bitterness drinkers of the classic cocktail expect, sans alcohol. Enjoy chilled straight from the bottle or over ice with an orange twist

4. Lyre's Aperitif Rosso

This unique spirit has been impossibly crafted to capture the essence of an aromatic vermouth Rosso with flavors that are distinct and contemporary. With flavors of blood orange and vanilla take the lead followed by caramel, citrus pith and cocoa.
